If You Don't Pack Anything Else For Your Holiday Make Sure You Pack These Five Items...

By Ashlee Hollandsworth

After booking a holiday you might spend weeks or even months looking forward to it only to find the day before you leave that you haven't packed and you don't know where to begin. Firstly, don't panic - plenty of people find themselves in these situations all the time, and yet you never hear about the person who missed her flight because she was still packing her suitcases at home. As long as your passport is in your carry on bag you've made a great start to your packing!

The fact is that so many items will be available to buy once you're abroad. So don't sweat over whether you need another top or not, you'll probably end up buying one while on holiday anyway. Instead make sure you've got the things you absolutely must take - like medication for one. Forget that and your holiday won't be quite so enjoyable.

Another must-have is a digital camera. Invest in a large memory card and you'll be able to take hundreds of photos, allowing you to keep memories of your holiday for years to come. Remember to also pack your charger so that it doesn't run out of juice halfway through the week.

Number 4 is bankcards. It's never safe to walk around with lots of cash on you and this could be truer in certain countries where you might holiday. Specialist travel cards offer free cash withdrawals abroad and there are also pre-paid cards you can use. These are much safer than carrying cash on you, so apply for one of these in advance if you don't already have one and then remember to pack it!

Ok, you've almost got everything that you absolutely must pack for a holiday but you're forgetting one thing - a good book. Most book selections at airports aren't particularly inspiring so bring along an old favourite or something you've been dying to read for a while and prepare for your flight to fly by as you become engrossed.
