Cyprus vacations offer visitors the best way to get away from the daily routine and explore life on the Mediterranean. This island shangri la has a few areas that may appeal to those looking for a energetic resort atmosphere. At the same time, folk searching for a quiet environment surrounded by natural beauty won't be dejected . The culture is a rich blend of Asian, African and Western european influences. Turkish and Greek are the two most common languages spoken on the island but the majority also talk English as a 2nd language. Venus, goddess of love and beauty, was born there according to stories in Greek mythology. Significant significant sites include numerous priories, castles and churches that reach back to the middle ages.



The Greeks ruled the island for 250 years thru 800 BC. The theatre found at Kourion once held up to 2000 spectators who gathered to look at the gladiators battle each other . Visitors can explore the general public baths and homes with their ornamental mosaic flooring tiles .

There's not much left as prompts of the time period when the Egyptians ruled the area. Some artifacts including examples of weapons and tools are housed in a museum in Nicosia. The museum is also home to several stone statues created to laud the Egyptian gods.



Visitors interested in the contributions manufactured by the Romans will find remains from that period in Paphos. The lighthouse was erected in the 2nd century. There are many historic sites including the villa of Theseus. Spectacular mosaic floors enhance various structures including the homes of Aion, Dionysus and Orpheus. These intricate patterns were carefully made by hand using tiny cubes made out of colourful stones and marble. Lanarca is known as the oldest town and is an important commercial port as well as being a preferred visitor destination. Several beachside resorts cater to people who need a relaxing place to take in the views . The architectural ruins of Kitium date back to the 13th century B. C . The Cyclopean Walls are the remains of a great complex that housed 5 temples .



High cliffs surround the beaches and the inland areas feature huge meadows and forests full of cedar trees. The climate is hot in the summer months but cold and wet during the winter. Seasonal snow skiing is possible at facilities on Trodos Mountains.

Natural trails are maintained by a local tourism organization . All trails are ranked according to three levels of difficulty and there are two specially designed for folk with disabilities . Trails are clearly marked with difficulty, average duration and length.



The majority of the island resorts hire bikes for travellers who need to explore the environment at their own rate . There are several bike routes set out connecting the various regions and cities . Another well-liked way to explore the island is on horseback. Cyprus features countless ranches and riding stables offering lessons by qualified trainers and trail rides with views of the mountains and beaches. Anybody will enjoy an island getaway in the Mediterranean. Cyprus holidays have something to offer folk of all ages and interests.
